Brookings report says U.S. Western States edge towards economic recovery …

A report prepared by Brookings Mountain West researchers at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas focuses on economic growth in 10 metropolitan areas, spread out in Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Idaho.

Overall, the area saw modest 0.3 percent growth in employment in the quarter ended in September, compared with a national rate of 0.1 percent, the study found. Utah, Colorado and New Mexico

In all, each region lagged behind the level of pre-recession jobs, with Phoenix and Las Vegas experienced the sharpest difference. Job level and 8.3 per cent languish 10.8 below pre-their recession peak respectively.
